Alpha PAL vs Coolermaster DP5 6H vs retail heatsink fan

Guys, do you know of any reviews or feedback I can find regarding the benefit of using a different heatsink/fan vs the retail Tbird one? I know the design of the retail heatsink clip puts direct pressure over the core of the Tbird. The Alpha PAL looks like it does not use this kind of clip.

All feedback welcomed.

Get the Alpha pal6035 with delta fan. it rules when it comes to being cool, and the new processors need extra cooling.

John, the stock heatsink runs too hot in my opinion. I immediately purchased an Alpha for my 800 after I built my current system. The clip works very well, and does not make me feel that I am going to damage the core when installing it. The Alpha also does an excellent job with cooling. I tried an FOP32 with a Y.S. Tech fan, and also a Delta 38 CFM. It did not perform as well as the Alpha with either type of fan installed, and the clip was difficult for me to install.

Another vote for the Alpha PAL6035. With the Coolermaster fan I would get temperatures of around 54C @ 800Mhz. (I don't know if the value is accurate. It seems that the A7V doesn't give very accurate readings) Using a Alpha PAL6035 I can now run it @ 950Mhz with a temperature of 51C. I did use a YS Tech fan but I prefer the Sunon 60mm fan I had, because it is a bit quieter and it doesn't rattle the case! :p

Just make sure that you use the clip designed for SocketA Cpu's. The clip is well designed for SocketA and doesn't feel like it is going to break anything or that it is too weak. Further the little pads on corners of the Cpu helps to support the heatsink.

GO with the Alpha, and if anyone tells you that it's hard to put on. It's not. It's quite simple. Just clip one side, the side closest to the inside of the mother board. and then slowly but surely press down, and clip the other side. You won't put enough pressure to crack it, unless you decide to stab through your motherboard.
