After removing the case on my pIII700, the cartridge won't lock in with the alpha p3125 installed. It seems too heavy just to leave sitting there unsupported, plus i move my box around, and I don't want to have to check it every time I move it. Are there any easy ways people are using? I thought about wire ties or something.
TIA for responses/suggestions

For what it's worth, I've used those plastic cable ties slipped through the retainer clip setoffs and threaded through holes in the standoffs on the board. I've done this on three different style motherboards with good success. You do have to use wire cutters to remove them later - don't clip the wrong 'wires'. Lark

What holds the cpu in are the tabs on the ends of the retail heatsink. I mounted a Artic Circle to my retail slot 1,very heavy.
I took the old heatsink and laid it back on the cpu using the retaining pins to locate it. I then marked the 4 holes at the ends of the cpu to the heatsink. Drilled and tap for #6-32 nylon screws. Then cut off the ends right at the fins. screwed these on the cpu using 1/8" rubber washers as standoffs. Locks like it should.
This is easy,if you have the "old" heatsink!
