Anyone know hwere I can get plain old heatsinks (i.e. not attached to or built for attachment with a fan)? Specifically, I'd like to attach heatsinks to the tops of my drives, so as to more efficiently cool them when I have the case fans blowing over them.
Alpha's site states they no longer sell online, and I haven't found a site that sells just the plain heatsinks. Thanks.

So let me get this straight - you're looking for Alpha-made heatsinks to attach to your hard drive(s), so your side-colling solution will take the heat off of the drives? I've never heard of actually attaching a heatsink to the drives, but there are drive bay coolers.

Have you checked out Millisec?

How about something like this or even this?

It would probably be much cheaper to go that route than adding very expensive Alpha heatsinks do your drives.

Thanks guys. What I'm after is a simple heatsink, to attach to the tops of my HDD's, just to increase the cooling provided by the special cooling fan I have blowing over my HDD's. I have an Addtronics 6896A with a 3 HDD cage sitting right behind the 80 mm fan in the front.
I also have each HDD cooled by a simple fan attached to the underside.

I know Alpha makes the extrusion heatsinks that I could attrach via thermal compound to the top of the HDD, but I don't know where I can actually buy them.

I have a couple of Duron Retail heatsinks. They still have the fans too, but the fans could be removed...

Let me know if you are interested.

The Ultimate Hard Drive Cooler HSF's work very well. I have them on each of my 7200 RPM drives, and it makes quite a difference in cooling.

2CoolTek has them for $23.00, and accept PayPal. They also ship by Priority Mail.
