Alpha 8045 vs. 6035

My Tbirdy is getting a bit too hot for my Thermoengine so I'm going to have to maybe go the upgrade route for the heatsink. The 8045 looks good but having to remove the motherboard every time I upgrade is a bitch. How does the 8045 fare in terms of performance over the 6045?

Basically, how much better is the 6035 compared to the thermoengine

Thanks,
Chris

How many case fans do you have? In my experience (limited) I've found that if I have a decent 80mm fan drawing the heat out it makes a world of difference! Plus I got an 80mm fan & adapter bolted to the top of my PAL 6035 and right now my 1Ghz T-Bird (200FBS) is running at 37C. Just my two cents worth. Also, I think the 6035 is quite a bit better than the thermoengine.

Before, I had a thermoengine with 7k fan with no other fans in the case except a side exhaust and I was doing 47-48C but now I changed the fan a thermaltake 60mm fan and added a 80mm thermaltake case fan and my CPU temperature jumped up to 55-56C so I underclocked it to 1GHz from 1.2GHz and right now it's running at 51C. The 7K fan was way too loud for me so I'm changing the heatsink and keeping the new fan. I'm most likely not going to go the route of getting an 8045 because being in a dorm and all I really cant change out the motherboard everytime I want to upgrade the processor. So right now it's between the Alpha PAL6035 and the Thermalright SK-6.
