The Alpha 8045 fits the KR7A very nicely. There is one hitch though: The 8045 once installed will block the upper left screw hole for mounting m/b to chassis. Therefore, you must install in this fashion:
With m/b out of case, install standoffs per Alpha instruction. Remember, nylon nuts are like yours--destructable.
With processor attached, install m/b in case. Apply your flavor of thermal paste on processor die.
Now follow instructions for mounting heatsink to m/b. Rest that puppy as aligned as you can (heatsink screws over standoffs), guide one screw in with a few twists, then follow crisscross instructions per Alpha.
My cpu temps dropped 10 degrees, and I can hear again! Sweet heatsink, sweet motherboard. Here's a great site for tweaking that puppy...
