Almost New Monitor: High Pitched Squealing Sound

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 955DF. I've been using it for about 2 months, and just these few days it's started making a high pitched squealing sound at certain resolutions in certain games. So far it's done it in 640x480 (menu resolution) in CS, and 1152x864 in Warcraft3. What's really strange is that it appears that I'm the only one in this household that can hear it. It's quite obvious to me, but the other people just can't hear it for some reason. I stop it, start it, and then still can't notice a difference. This can't be in my head because it only does it in CS and just today, WC3, in certain resolutions at certain times. Strange problem. Any guesses?

Sorry, no suggestions; only a musing I guess.:)
It's like that here too - I can hear very high-pitched sounds, no one else ever can. Like the lights in the dining room, when they're on dimly, they make a very high pitched sound that only I can hear it seems.

It might be ground problems, like a ground wire came loose or is loosely attached.

I would just bring it back to an authorized Samsung repair facility in your area and have them fix it. My Samsung 900NF monitor blew out after 1 year of use. Dropped it off and got it back in a week WITH a new front screen. :) Of course, it was still under warranty.

Does it cost money to get a repair facility to look at it and fix it? I'm afraid that they won't be able to hear the sound either since no one I've asked can hear it. Obviously if they can't even notice the problem they probably won't do anything about it. It's also quite a bit of trouble bringing it there, as I'm just underage to drive so I have to get someone to drive me, and the closest place isn't very close at all and is a store I don't really like.

Might want to check out this if you're curious why it's doing it. There's really nothing you can do about it though besides get it repaired/replaced.

Hmm, now I probably know why my friends can empathise with the experience of being able to hear some stuff other people can't. I could take it back to the store, but I've already done it once, for the reason that this monitor is blurry in some parts, but they couldn't see it and didn't do anything about it.

Samsung has pretty good customer service. Call them up and see what they have to say. I've had a couple of monitors replaced by them at no cost (shipping was free also).

On a side note, don't plan on moving to Manhattan. You'll never get any sleep with those ears (I've been using the ear plugs for the past 10 years).:D I can give pretty good suggestions on ear plugs, though.

Heh, yeah, that's something else - visual acuity among people varies so much - some people can't see a difference between a 60Hz refresh rate and 100Hz. I can't stand anything less than 85Hz for more than a few minutes.

Manhattan makes whining noises? lol... I'm just bothered by this because it's so high pitched. My computer case makes more noise, but it's not super high pitched and piercing.

I can notice the difference between refresh rate, but anything above 70 I can work with. It's a wonder I still have 20/20 vision even though I sit in front of the computer all day.
