Almost makes me want to buy a PS2...

I've always been a PC gamer and I've never had any desire to have a console gaming system.. until now. I was killing time walking through Best Buy on my lunch hour today and they had a PS2 set up with Guitar Hero. I'd heard about Guitar Hero but never actually seen the game or played it... I stopped and gave it a try. I had so much fun for that short time I had to play it, I was almost late getting back to work. Really makes me almost consider buying a PS2.. if only I had the spare cash and a wife who wouldn't beat me over the head with my plastic guitar for buying another game system :)

Unfortunately, I have neither one... why oh why can't they release those types of games for the PC? DDR never made it to the PC either, but at least there is stepmania which I had some fun with for a while. I'd love to play guitar hero, and the upcoming guitar hero II on my PC but I guess it's not to be. At least not yet.

I never had an urge to buy a PS2. After playing guitar hero at a friends house I immediately went out and bought one. Never had so much fun. Plus I get to play the games I missed while having a gamecube - God of War, Katamaris, Shadow of Colossus etc etc.

Look on the FS/FT forum - got mine for 100$ from there.

You can also play the Final Fantasy series if you never had a PS1. There are piles of good PS1 - PS2 games for $15-20, less used.

I only ever wanted to try one Playstation game. It was a Castlevania called Symphony of the Night, (I think).

Looked a lot like Super Metroid, only better.

PS2 has so many good single-player games its ridiculous. Any Final Fantasy, Guitar Hero, DDR, MGS3, God of War, Katamari D, Shadow of the Colossus, Soul Calibur 3... there are just too many to name. I'm glad i bought my PS2, it'll probably last me through my entire college career.

potential interest in pc market doesn't justify the cost of dev/distributing a pc version even if it isn't exclusive by contract

Emulate it if you have to (ePSXe RAWKS). It's one of the best platformers EVER, and probably my favorite Castlevania followed by III (never played much of the SNES ones).

awesome game.

i had a ps2 for a few months because i was bored with the pc games or lack of pc games.
i bought a few games and some were fun for awhile but i dunno, i just totally lost interest in them and then sold everything, except 4 games that no one seems to want to buy.

Why would the interest in the pc market be less than intrest on the console market? Seems like it'd be real easy to make a usb guitar controller, etc...

I'll just have to hope that somebody makes an opensource version of it like they did with stepmania for DDR... unless I find myself with a spare $200 or so to spend :)

Buy a PS2 , there are some games that aren't good in Keyboard and mouse :! Like Racing , Sports game , Platformers . To me I see PC as an RTS , PC , Action RPG , MMORPG gaming platform. PS2 has many awesome game and i think you should buy em. God of War , Metal Gear Solid 2/3 , Devil May cry and so .. For me why i love the Playstation is because of it great range of RPG title. Anyways buying a playstation 2 is recommended by me and you will should explore the console side. $125 for Playstation 2 + Guitar Hero + Plastic Guitar. Also you can find games like God of war , Metal gear solid , Devil May cry ect for $10 or less in bargain bin.

As it stands now I'd never get any game play out of it because it'd get busted as she beat me over the head with it... heh.
