this morning i was off to work at around 8. i pulled up to the first intersection of my trip and was waiting patiently to turn left at the red light. Out of nowhere i had this feeling come over me, a very strange worried feeling and the word "accident" kept flying through my head. over and over it repeated in my head for about six seconds, and because of it i was no longer focusing on the light that had just turned green. i did not realize for about 1 1/2 seconds that the light was green, but once i saw the green i accelerated. i started to turn when out of the corner of my eye a big GMC van went speeding through the red light and missed my car by about two feet nearly hitting me in my little 240sx.
if i had not had that feeling i would have been hit directly, and very hurt or maybe even killed.
yaa so, be careful guys

i always look both ways before crossing intersections no matter if its green light or not. i've had two situations so far where a car has sped through the light right when I would have crossed if I wasnt paying attention

My guardian angle is 72°. Not sure what it is about that angle, but it saves me time and again.

In all seriousness - once you experience a real late red-light runner like that, you start to drive a lot more cautiously when you're one of the first few cars out of a fresh green light. I always look both ways before I start accelerating into the intersection.

:) @ Bullhonkie.

Glad you're okay. I'm always complaining to my niece because she doesn't check the traffic before pulling into the intersection when the light turns green. I always take a quick look in both directions before moving.

Ive also had a similar guardian angel experience. And this cant be attributed to a sixth sense:

It was 1995 and I was driving a 300zx. I was driving along about 40 in a 35 when my radio started malfunctioning all of a sudden. I slowed down to about 30, glancing at the radio and just turned it off (it was the factory amp that went out). Then a lady made a sudden turn in front of me. It happened really fast, but I was going too fast to come to a complete stop. In a nannosecond I saw her go for it, see me, throw her hands up in panic as I slammed on my brakes and skidded into her, totalling the car.

So Im thankful to my guardian angel for screwing up my amp "just seconds from disaster!"

*thanks God again*

ps. She was from Tennessee and came to Texas looking for a teaching job. I joked that she came all the way from Tennessee to be in an accident with me. She said that was her first accident in 30 years.

i can see the relevance between guardian angles and the intersection.

Ofcousre, you just skip the solution that maybe he saw you didn't move and decided to run the red light. Well, to each his own.

My brothers truck was hit by some drunk that ran a red light at about 60 mph, totalling his truck.

He still has back problems to this day.

co-worker told me about a story that gave me the chills. She was driving her shitbox Beatle and she had a passenger. The passenger was the tester to she could get her full liscense.

Anyway they have gone everywhere and were done and just heading back to the office, she figured she was failing. She came from Toronto (huge town of millions compared to our crappy little town of 50,000) so she had a very agressive driving style (needed to be from where she came from).

Anyway they were heading into a section of a road that turned the two way street into a tunnel that forced one vehicle to cross at a time. This was a seldom used tunnel so traffic was very light and very rare to ever run into anyone, not the mention the speed limit being very low and various yield signs to warn people. However despite these precautions this particual tunnel was in a bend in the road so you could not see the other side and sometimes vehicles would meet each other in the middle of the tunnel.

So she enters the tunnel and suddenly stops about two car lengths in, the tester at this point is screaming at her asking her wtf is she trying to do, she puts the car into reverse slams the gas and as the car barely clear the tunnel slams on the emergency breaks and turns the car right which spins her onto the sidewalk and shoulder directly next to the entrance of the tunnel. No sooner had she done this, a millisecond later a full sized 18 wheeler screams through the tunnel scraping the sides as he goes just barely missing the little beat up Beatle.

Apparently this transport and the other transport were racing to enter the tunnel first and neither driver wanted to give up. One transport didn't make it and was completely totaled as it slammed into the tunnel entrance frame. I don't recall if the driver was killed or not but I think he was but they never caught the other moron.

Anyway they return to the testing office in complete silence except for the tester shaking so hard the entire way that his clipboard was making crackling sounds in his hands. They go into the testing centre, the tester marches over to the admission booth takes a stamp and slams "Approved" on her failed test sheet and hands in his name tag saying "I quit" and he promptly walked right out.

Belieave it or not I don't give a damn, it's a true story.

There's another one where she got into a fight on a construction site with a crew member who threw a huge peice of plywood that she ducked from it being thrown at her from behind as she was walking away (there was no warning). She almost killed the guy and it took the forman to hold her back because 3 of the crew members couldn't do it and she was only 130lbs. The foreman was the size of a truck. Obviously the other guy was fired on the spot.

Another accident story this time from me.

Where I work I was talking to a Police officer and he was telling me how they had to have a radio replaced, one of the things we do, and I had to know why it was damaged.

He told me that the radio was in a cruiser that got hit during a traffic stop. The officer was still inside the vehicle when it was hit. The cruiser was a complete write off and crumpled like a beer can. A 2 inch thick peice of metal rod/nail stopped just two inches short of the officer's chest. He walked away from the accident but was shaken up and had a mild concussion. Supposedly if he was sitting anywhere else in the vehicle he would have been crushed instantly. Lucky bastard. He will be ok.

Don't ask me man. Here in Ontario we have some really fked up traffic spots. Ever seen a 5 way stop? There's one in Sudbury. I have seen the tunnel before that she was talking about and it's a scarry place but like I said normally there's no cars and very rare that you would meet someone in the middle because traffic is so light. This isn't a highway, it's a little hidden corner of town that hardly anyone uses except a few people who live around there and there's a second road that bypasses that tunnel so you don't have to even use it if you don't want to.
