i just got home (Liberty Miissouri)

we went to some friends for dinner, about 4pm

started stormin about 5 pm

most of us went into the basement, but a couple people watched the tornado blow up a house about 1/4 mile away

after it cleared out, i tried to get home , it took about 1 1/2 hours, my town is closed, local residents only and they declared a state of emergency :Q
schools are closed, while driving home i saw many downed trees, downed power lines and one gas station had the canopy over the pumps knocked down. police and fireman and even animal control are all over the place

about 30 miles away in kansas, over 100 homes were demolished :(
so far 1 confirmed dead and 1 unconfirmed dead

I just got home from driving through it on I-70. I just happened to stop by my sister's house in Bonner Springs before it all happened...if I would have stayed on I-70 going west I might have hit it head-on. Someone was looking out for me.

i guess so, City of Liberty , Missouri

they had the main bridge over the interstate closed down, that is part of the reason it took so long to get home, i had to drive about 20 miles south and then east and then back north to get into town

another thunderstorm hit while we were driving home

it was dark when i got home, so i can't really see my house/yard, but no windows are broken
got a puddle of water in the basement , but it didn't get into anything important

Same here... I am in Springfield, MO and it touched down like 3 times here and some of my friends actually saw it pass threw. Didn't harm anything that close to my house but I hear Stockton, MO is almost demolished.

There were no sirens where we were at...we got a call from a relative. We didn't even know it was coming.

Well here there were sirens going off like crazy and the radio kept saying like exactly where it was around my city and the exact roads and stuff and it was D@MN close to my house.

I've was in a school building once when a tornado struck it. Half of the school got torn off (thankfully no fatalities), but we barely even felt a thing. Kind of scary, but if you live in Kansas you get used to them.

Man city life is so different from non-city.

Going to suburbs it feels weird with barely any noise outside
everything more open,
less cars and less crazy drivers,
cheaper stuff,
etc...

the sirens had been going off for 20-30 minutes before it hit
it wasn't even raining or thunder or lightning
we could see some clouds off to the west and the power went out when it got a little windy, but it wasn't like anything i expected. it just didn't seem like "bad weather"

My parents told me about this tonight. I have friends in the area but haven't been able to reach them. I'm assuming their power and phones are out. Hope their alright.

Someone post a link to your local news websites. I have family there and am a bit worried. I can't call em.:(

I've not seen a tornado, but I've seen the effects of one minutes after it went through. Definitely not something I want to be near. :frown:

Glad to hear you're doing ok, and hope your family and friends are ok too.

<-- goes to check the TV because the local news sites don't update worth crap.

Well, fvck it. The TV doesn't show any warnings or watches, but it's lightning like crazy right outside my window (and I'm on the computer!).

Edit: I'm in Indiana, FWIW.

Memphis must be lucky, because all the bad (tornado) weather seems to go North and South of us.

Everything missed us.. We barely even got any rain. I after moving all my cars inside, I was watching the news... I could not believe the destruction that happened today. I really feel for those families that lost everything.
