Almost done with my computer!

ops sorry

Ok, with out a PSU or monitor it comes to: 1279.38 note: before the graphics card rebate...

so 220.62

.....:\ I donno what to do🙁?

O? I've heard bad things about fortron:\ but some people also say its a great brand🙂

Seeing that my budget is wearing very thin...I may be able to buy my graphics card.......I donno.....

17" LCD? Um what brand do ya all suggest? How much are 19in viewable LCDs.......

I plan on gaming so.................

$1500 and you're getting a 7800GT and an X2 chip? That doesn't leave much for the rest of the machine. And why is the power supply always at the bottom of everyone's list? It's the only component providing electricity to an electrical system.

Use Anandtech's RealTime Price Engine to find low prices.

SeaSonic S12-380 $76 Yes, 380W is plenty. This will hold up when many "500W" supplies crap out.

Newegg offers 15 NF4 Ultra boards with one PCI-E x16 slot. I like the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum for $101.

All 3800+ chips should perform similarly, why pay so much more for a dual-core chip? Better yet, a 3500 Venice is $220, and you won't even notice the performance difference, as it's still enough to feed the video card.

Dump the floppy all together.

NEC should be a good $50 DVD drive.

The OCZ Value would do nicely.

Plan about $100 for the case.

For a sound card, I suggest the BlueGears/HDA Digital X-Mystique 7.1 Gold $90

For a video card, I pick the BFG 7800GTX $500

There you go, with about $250 left for a monitor.

I'm not planing on getting an audio card

why dump the floppy?

7800GTX<==100 more doesn't seem like its worth it...in reviews from places anyway, comparing stats

Well I really was hoping for a dual core seeing that they are great for multi tasking...:?

That power supply kinda is exspensive seeing the power of watts..?

why 100 for a case? Won't the one I picked out work?

Sorry for all the negative replies of mine🙁

MSI mobo? <=is it a stable mobo....? last long? Mabe OC well in about 3 years?

No no no...dual core is better and will significantly boost gaming with the new 80-series drivers from Nvidia. Don't dump the floppy, they are still useful at times. Use built-in audio instead of a soundcard and save the $90. Oh, and get a good PSU!

question tho... 80-series? whats that ....>_<

A new driver that somehow uses dual core CPUs to boost framerates considerably. It's coming out soon, it's in beta right now.

That's gonna be an awesome rig. 🙂

hard to stay under 1500 budget when you get a 7800 gt and a x2.

heres a link to everything you ever wanted/needed to know about PSU's. read it well http://hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93

you can get older used monitors for cheap now that everyone is going to lcds. 17" crt would bottleneck the hell out of your setup but you cant have your cake and eat it too.

another option (one i highly recommend) is looking on here for some of the items you want. check out the FS/FT forum and also at hardforum they have a great FS/FT thread.

edit: dell 205fpw to be exact....just picked on up myself from hardforum should be here at the end of the week

just another note, i been looking in the FS forum here for the last few mins and i've found basically everything you need or better for awesome prices.

bump

Update*

Seeing that I'm only going to have 200 dollars about for a monitor and PSU I think I may hold off on getting my graphics card.......
What do ya think? Get the rest of the system. Put it together and then wait until the price drops?
