Almost blew the GRE test today

I took the GRE today and got a bit flustered. The second question on the first Quant section just utterly stumped me and I fruitlessly wasted a bunch of time at it. Let's just say that I hate complicated square root problems, then I realized a mistake as I confirmed an answer and finally the timer elapsed on the section before I could confirm my answer on the last question. I also felt like I got a lot of hard words on the first verbal section. At this point I was worried that I choked and was considering having the scores thrown out. The second quant and verbal sections went much more smoothly and I decided to submit the scores after all.

Much to my satisfaction, I hit my target score. 😀

Career change, here I come!

Mines were 800M, 540V. The typical perfect engineering/physics math score and horrible, horrible qualitative score. From what I hear, not even English majors can hit a perfect verbal.

<-- 800M, 800Q...

... 520V. (pre-essay GRE)

You know what's lots of fun? Talking to international students who score 200+pts higher on the verbal section.

OMG, that's me. Actually I got a 550 or was it a 530. Whatever. I practiced 600 for my diagnostic, and peaked at 640. Believe me I was pissed with my actual results. It's time to hit the books a year later.

My roommate did blow it. For some reason he took the bus (instead of asking one of us to drive him) which took him 2 hours to get to the test (as apposed to a 20 min drive) then arrived just in time realized he forgot his ID, and wasn't allowed to take the exam.

760M, 580V, lower on the math than I was expecting (guess I made a coupla dumb mistakes), but still plenty good to get into the two engineering schools I was applying for. I like my GMAT (730-97 percentile) better but that score did nothing for me (got rejected from the 1 I applied to)
