AllShare (or just media) to my Galaxy?

My file/ media server shares data with my Samsung blu-ray player using the Samsung AllShare apps. Works great.

I would like to be able to do the same/something similar with my Galaxy S3. How can I get media from my server to play on my phone?

Hopefully this is something simple that I am just not seeing.

Do you have the app installed? I think the app is now called Samsung Link or something similar.

Got it, thanks!

I don't think it is something I want to do right now. Running the latest version of Allshare, but now I would have to put the Samsung Link (which requires an account) on the server to use it this way.

This would require a network change, as my server is only on the local network, and I am not about to change it.

Oh well, at least I know what it would take if I did. Thanks again cronos.

What about using ES Explorer file manager app to access your network files and using something like MX Player or Dice Player to play it? Or you could install XBMC 13.1 beta on your phone and access and play media from your server.

AllShare (except for the screen mirroring function) is just an implementation of DLNA. Buy BubbleUPnP, which is the best DLNA client *and* controller app, and you'll be able to play media on your phone as well as send/control media going from server to Blu-Ray with your phone.
