Allow permissions for backup on network drive

My problem is on 3 computers that use a backup software to run automatic scripts to backup data on to another computer on the same peer to peer network using an external usb hard drive connected to that computer. Basically the backup scripts are accessing a network drive. It works fine when I manually run the script, but when it does it automatically at a scheduled time is gives an error that it does have permission. Anyway I can solve this?
