What is the more effective method of anti-war protest?
reasoned discussion?
or
or one-liners and quips?
It would seem that of late there have been a number of flame-bait style threads started that are nothing more than a open invitation bickering.
Take this thread for example: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=38&threadid=975597
And while bickering and mud slinging is a beloved past time of OT, I have seriious doubts about how well the latter form does in stimulatinng genuine discussion worthy of OT bandwidth.
Granted, however, a well place use of humor can make for a smooth segway into a great thread, but when not judiciously used it can ignite tempers. And some might say that that a good thing, it leads to bruised egos and ill will. And then no ones happy.
That said, I've always preferred the intelligent threads, like babes theads...errr...um...YAGT...no...um
..you know, the good War/Anti- war politico threads or Gun threads etc. The ones with links and reasons and language nazis and
( dang, this is just rambling... )
and sprinkled with a few personal attacks and name calling. Those are fun threads. You laugh, you cry, you post angry and feel smug until they reply comes and then you post again. It's very gratifying.
any thoughts? anyone? anyone? Bueller?
