First off, use the allofmp3 Explorer to download.

Second, go to settings, download->simultaneous threads per file to 25

Third, (only if you use a router) port forward port 80 to your IP. I'm getting 100-120Kb/s now.

Just restarted. Getting 200+Kb/s now.

I still have 3 itunes free downloads and those are just for the rare occasion someone mentions some obscure some that i can't find elsewhere.

Yeah, but you could quite easily claim that you "thought" it was legal. Dunno if it'll stand up in court, but it "appears" to be a lot more legal than using Kazaa, for instance.

AllOfMp3 is legal. There have been several articles on it around the net. There are also similar services from other countries, for example a Spanish service (I forget the name) has unlimited downloads for $20 something a month and has been running for more than a year.

If the music is released in a country, there has to be an organization licensed to distribute it. And that organization is free to give out the rights to a music download service. It just so happens CDs in Russia are only $2-$3 anyway, so its not that great of a deal there. You're buying music in Russia and then importing it, which there is no law against.

we believe this atleast

It is funny how people can't seem to grasp the fact that laws in other countries are different than here. Just because you're getting gouged on music here, doesn't mean that it is a univeral truth. AFter reading many many articles on allofmp3, it certainly seems to me like they are perfectly legal, and by using them you are simply importing the song here, which is also a legal thing to do.

But the thinking of "it's illegal because that's not how things work here" is like saying Canadians are breaking the law by buying prescription drugs much cheaper than we do here.

Never saw the TechTV thing but Ive been on there for a few months now, pay by paypal feature is very nice.... around 80 cents for a whole album is also very nice 😉

AllOfMP3 is ubercheap and they have hands-down the best encoding options of any online site. I stick to 320kbpsVBR Lame, but they have lossless formats as well.

even if it is technically legal, you're paying a bunch of guys in russia. and how much are the artists you listen to getting?

Don't think of how much the artists are getting; think of how much the record labels aren't getting.

lets give it to a bunch of russians that aren't even affiliated with the artists then. that solves everything. 🙂

ahhh...that puts things in perspective 😉

I'd rather pay 5 cents for a song and have the artist get .5 cents of that, than pay $15 for a CD, and have the artist get .5 cents of that.

Amen!!!!

I just got the new version of Explorer and changed my threads to 10. Went from ~117KB/s to ~350KB/s. Maybe I just got lucky with the connection but it's flying!
