Hey everyone, just wondering what you all think about Allied power supplies? I just purchased a Allied 400W Power Supply from newegg.com. It has gotten extremely good ratings on newegg but I've since looked around and have heard some real bad stories about them. I plan on using one to run my athlon xp 2500, 256mbx2 memory, 4 case fans, 1 7200 rpm hd and a radeon 9600 pro vid card. Think this will work out?

You might want to PM IsOs and ask him. He has several Dual systems (XP type with various boards) running on that same supply just fine. He recommended it to me! :)

Good Luck! :)

I have this power supply running Dual systems as well. Stable is the word for it.

Been running an Allied 400w PSU in one of my backups for over a year now (see box #4 of my specs). Was a little apprehensive about getting it also (since it's essentially made by DEER), but it's proven to be one of the most reliable PSU's I've used to date. The output is very consistent and more than adequate for most system. The one I got is the Rev A, not the Rev B that's being offered by newegg right now. I would imagine that the Rev B is even better since the +12v has been tweaked and offers 15A protection over the 12A offered by the Rev A.

My rails are very much on. This PSU has two fans, but it's very quiet (I didn't have to swap the fans for Panaflos). It's like a quality Sparkle or Antec 350W (PSU's brands are very important because people can plop together a sucky PSU and call it a 400W Powmax, for example).

Very nice PSU for $33 + $6 ships. Sometimes it dips down to $30 + $6 shipping though

Athlon XP 2500 @ 200x10
A7N8X-Dlx
Radeon 9800 pro
SB audigy 2
2 hard drives
2 optical drives
4 60mm fans, 1 80mm fan, 1 0mm fan

I've been very satisfied with it. The 3.3V and the 5.0 rails are dead on. However my 12V often runs at a solid 12.48V. System is stable though. .
