Allergy medicine?

What are some good allergy meds? I've taken Benedril (sp?) in the past, but it makes you sleep so that is a no no at work (as I found out last week)... so I'm in search of a better non drowsy alternative. I've heard Claritin is good for a OTC. I've also heard Zyrtec is good...

What do you prefer?

Jugs

btw: Either OTC (over the counter) or prescription is fine.

I haven't suffered from allergies in years, but for some reason my allergies flared up this season. Anyway, I tried benedryl too and it would totally take me out of commission for 8+ hours at a time. I just started taking Claritin and have been very happy with it. All of my symptoms went away and no drowsiness! I hear that Allegra is supposed tp be pretty good too.

Claritin seems to lose it's effectiveness if you've taken them before.

I've taken em last year and it barely works for me this year.

Have you thought about using inhalers ( nose ) ? I heard Nasonex works wonders.

I never tried zertec.

Claritin worked good for me, then it went OTC. Now I get perscription Clarinex. That stuff works wonders although it can make you drousy (not all the time though) and it makes me thirsty. But would you rather be miserable with allergies or be feeling great and have a little cotton mouth?

Allegra is the bomb. I get severe allergies this time of year, and Allegra clears them all with (as far as I can tell) no side effects at all.
