Allan Houston (NBA) retires

When I stop to think about it, H2O has been my favorite player since Ewing, even though I always thought he was a bit too passive with respect to going to the hole. Who could forget the last second running jumper against Miami in what was it, '99? I'm sad to see him go out like this.

Hit your favorite news source for the story.

i remember despising Houston when he left Detroit. around the same time Grant Hill left and the team was pretty much crap. of course, i can't complain now, but back then Lindsey Hunter, Allan Houston, and Grant Hill were a great young group of players.

Can't stand any player that doesn't play D. Anyways, I believe the Knicks now save a huge chunk of change from him retiring instead having to cut him a la the Allan Houston Rule. I'm just excited to see what Brown can do for this team.

And out of curiosity..................

What does his pay look like right now???????

Yesterday???????

Tomrrow??????

How's he gonna be financially???

(This would be the first case in a while of a star player possibly having to live off of what he made in the last few years & not what he's gonna get in endorsements, etc. for years to come)

you're joking right?

Allan Houston made nearly 17-18 million dollars last season alone. he's been in the NBA for about 10 seasons. assuming Houston had an even semi-competent financial manager, his grandkids won't ever have to work again.

You never know.....just look at Latrell Sprewell. He needed more than 3 yrs./$30 million in a contract extension because he had to feed his kids! How is Allan Houston going to feed his kids? 😛😀

funny thing is, no one's signed Sprewell this off-season, even though teams were supposedly interested.

looks like Spree might need to pick up a job and MickeyD's to get some extra hamburgers for the kids....

sweet one more contract off the books. Need far more than possible in our lifetimes to make a run at Lebron 😉

Fixed. 🙁 Lebron in a Knicks uniform, don't tempt me like that!

Man he could shoot. One of the sweetest shooters I've ever seen. I still remember his great bank shot off the board vs the Miami Heat in the 1999 playoffs. It was during the strikeout 50 game year when the 8th seed Knicks went to the NBA finals.

Ahh. I will miss you, Allan.

I wish the NBA was as fun to watch as it was about 5 years ago.
