oh you tell me that is spam? sh1t! i gave them my social security number, bank account number, password to my myspace account, gym membership number, license plate number, etc. Am i screwed?

One has to think though. If they send out only 1,000,000 of these and 0.1% people fall for it - that is still 1000 cards.

1000 cards at even 5K limit = 5 million bucks.

I'm in the wrong business.

Can ISPs be sued if a scammer has their website setup on the ISP? Maybe get them for being an accessory to fraud?

You'd think if an ISP was alerted than a scammer had a website setup with them that they'd shut it down right away... Maybe in a perfect world...

it would be a webhost and not an ISP in most cases. the way it works (i am an admin for a webhosting company) is that visa sends the fbi and web hosting provider a notice. the web host shuts the site down and it is between visa, the fbi, and the criminal. the hosting provider really is not involved.
