I am trying to use ICS to share a dsl connection at home.. here is the setup
2 computers (w2k & win 98 )
w2k has 2 nics 1 connect to dsl modem the other (cross over) connect to win 98
win 98 has 1 nic
i can ping 98 itself however when i am trying to ping w2k from win 98 i can't how can i fixed this?
is there a way to check if my cross over cable is correct??? i was told that cross over when you look at the colors of wires inside it's just in reverse.. i.e. y,g,b,w on one end and w,b,g,y am i correct on that?

i also need some basic helps on how to set them up
i have readthis thread with similar problem but i got stuck in the middle cuz i can't even ping w2k from my window 98.

thanks in advance for you guys help 🙂

Check out this thread for more info on setting up the wires for a crossover cable. Scroll to the bottom and check out the pictures.

Are you sure you are waiting long enough for the machines to find each other? Mine takes about 5 minutes or so after a re-boot. Also hit F5 to refresh this may help.
I have not been able to get ICS running either and have not had much luck getting any help.

good graffic on the link.

If your still having trouble connecting after you get the cable straight, you might try a proxy software Like Winroute. I use this @ a highschool (where I am a network tech./admin.) on a Nt 4 server to connect 4 student labs of a 225 users to the net via our T1.

It never skiped a beat..
