I just got the game (actually two weeks ago but it was so frustrating that i didn't really play it till now). I'm kinda a newbie to the whole racing sim genre that defines GT, I was always a gameshark user so the games didn't have much replay value. But this time i'm really trying to get a feel for the game and "complete" it on my own terms. I do have a couple questions though...

is the d-pad for more precise turning while the analog joystick is more extreme? I prefer the d-pad, and if so is there any way to make it so that the d-pad is the default while the analog is more precise navigating, or is that gonna be pretty hard down the line and I should learn to use the analog...

once you get into the 30-50 thousand dollar range, what's the best car available? I'm having a hard time choosing between things like the Mazda RX7, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and the american based Camaro's and Mustang's. I realize that the Camaro and Mustang have a larger engine and have more raw horsepower, but what are the pro's and con's to them in terms of upgrades and handling? A lot of guides I read either had people buying the Camaro SS or the RX7, but what's your opinion?

How the hell do u drift =/ I cannot do a power slide turn or whatever u want to call it if my life depended on it and there have been times when I desperately needed it. Right now I have my B and A license, a 420-hp Lancer Evo, a 400-hp Nissan Silvia Spec-R Aero (which I think is actaully faster then the Lancer). My cash fund is pretty much just racing the gran turismo beginner's championship super track, that oval track thing used in a lot of the beginner license tests, which nots 10,000$ in about 2-3 minutes of racing. Most of the time I win by a couple seconds with my Silvia Spec-R, while my Mitsubishi isn't quite up there yet.

All help appreciated

only feedback I can give you is on a car choice... once i started to get enough money to upgrade my first car to something worthwhile, the Corvette Z06 served me very well. i had great luck with that car, and when tuned up... that thing is pretty damned fast.. hope that helps your decisions :p

when i played first car i bought after a miata was a supra. it served me well. just pick what you like. when modded you can win the beginner races with almost any car. also you really dont even have to buy cars once you get going. you can just use the ones you win and use your prize money for mods. if you search around online, you will find a list of what events will yield which cars.

Use the analog for sure. It allows you to do slight turns that are much more accurate and when you get those fast F1 cars, tap steering will send you into a wall quite frequently. You have to win cars. One of the special events in beginer wins you that Tickford car and let me tell you, that thing not only hauls ass, but it turns VERY well. If you try and beat the game by buying all your cars, it'll take you FOREVER to finish the game.

I recommend buying a mitsu 3000gt, putting a stage 4 turbo on there, and with some supporting mod you have a 1050 HP beast. Can't turn or anything, but will take you pretty far. Then throw some dirt tires on it and beat EVERY SINGLE rally event. You will then have quite a bit of cash and for completing it you will get a Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak. It has 1850 horse, and doesnt way anything, It is one of the best cars in the game and will carry you pretty far, but you will need a better handling car for the professional races, like the Mazada 787B.

Goodluck.

I highly recommend the SVT Cobra Mustang. Mod it to ~500+ hp and then win the amature All-American championship. You should win a Camaro race car doing that.

Thats the easiest way to get cash fast. Granted, the RX7 is fast, but it really depends on your style. I've lost count of how many cars are in my garage, but my favorite cars are the ones that I've won, not bought.

I'm trying to pick my next car too with about $500,000 though. But my best car so far has been my 1001Hp Nissan Skyline Turbo AWD. I would definately recommend that one. Have you worked through most of the beginner races? Alot of times they'll give you a car for winning that you can use in the next series.

Although GT3 succeeds as a driving simulator, it fails in 1 big aspect as a racing game: it doesn't keep the races competitive for you, forcing you to make the races competitive for yourself.

You can win lots of money by easily completing some of the lower level races repeatedly. Then you can mod some cars to insane HP levels and win many tracks easily (even some that say they have HP limits, even though it is not enforced). So if you like to win, then go ahead and buy a 3000GT, Skyline, or Supra, mod it to the max, and go really fast in straight lines.

If you want to challenge yourself, look at the cars you're racing and make sure your car is modded to a similar level (ie, don't run an Escudo on anything but hill climbs, and don't run a 1000HP street car in a rally race).

The main car I used to start off with was the Subaru Impreza WRX STi VI sedan. Tuned to the max it is about 540 hp and it can win a lot of the races in beginner, amateur and rally. For all around best car in any race it is allowed in is the F-094 formula 1 car.

well I ended up just buying a car, trying it out, and if I didnt like it on the test track I would just reload my game =) I ended up with a Camaro SS, i was thinking of the Mustang but i have something against them, plus there was only one color. I added a stage 2 N/A kit, did an oil change, racing chip, some sport brakes, flywheel, and racing intake and it's well over 500 hp now, and it kills my other cars right now. As for game completion, i've won 5 cars in the Beginner's field, i think i'm gonna go out and buy a beetle, vitz, and maybe an audi or mercedes and try those tournaments. I don't understand it... 2 weeks ago when I first started and got so frustrated my winning percentage was below 50, i put the game down for 2 weeks, came back yesterday and all of a sudden i'm winning races. No more driving need for speed style :) Although i'm still horrible at executing turns.

I started out with a 240sx silvia spec car and modded that up until I couldn't add anything. Raced with that for a while until I saved up about $150k and got myself a twin turbo supra fully upgraded.

Wish I could help you but I just copied my friends memory card:) I suck at driving games so it would have taken too much time for me to get anything good.

I just got my rally licens and am 2 races away from my IA now. My Impreza and Skyline work great in the rally races now.

I've noticed that a proper setting for each race on the transmission can go a long way as well as having the right racing tire.

I pimped out a 3000GT to the max which won me an Escudo Pikes Peak, which I've been using ever since. But I haven't played in a number of weeks since I kept losing the pro races. What car should I use for those?

How do you get the F1 car?

Man I am a *demon* at the game. When I first got it I spent frickin' 4 hrs STRAIGHT to get ALL OF MY LISCENCES! B, A, IB, IA, Special and Rally :D

The Special liciences were a MOFO!

I race with a modded Evo that I won. Fast accelleration but the top end sucks:( so I can't win any of the speed races as it tops out at 219.

if you want to be really cheap you could pull the rubber band trick with the escudo and the super speedway endurance.

1.) get a Pike's peak
2.) Change the method of driving by using the 2 joysticks. the left one stays the same while the right is change to push left to accelerate.
2.a) (I think you have to do this) change the drive ratios so its higher
3.) find a rubber band to connect the two joysticks. They should be aligned as if your thumbs were pushing it towards the middle.
4.) Go to superspeedway and start teh match.
5.) you should hit the wall all the time but the pike's peak is so fast that it doesn't matter.
6.) wait an hour or so.
7.) hope you get the f1 car.
8.) repeat as necessary.

Yeah, once I got the F90/S I used nothing else, ever. That car just kicks so much ass... doing sharp turns at 160 like it's nothing is so fun! :D
