I'm a longtime Honda owner. (Pls don't make me say Honda makes Acura) On my fourth Honda as we speak. Honda makes fine automobiles AND sportbikes. But they screw up massively when it comes to their six-cylinder cars because they don't offer a stick!

The motor in in the CL-S absolutley kicks butt and the suspension has been retuned as well AND they actually have real sporty rolling stock on it as well. What do they do? Stick a slushbox on it, effectively neutering it. Beemers have a stick. Mercedes have a stick. Why not Acura? Because Honda keeps pandering their "money-maker" vehicles to overweight, unhappily married 50-somethings going thru their midlife crisis, that's why

Sheet, Acura (Honda) is capable of making a vehicle like the Integra Type R...'nuff said there. But then they have an awesome vehicle like the CL-S and only offer an automatic? Blasphemy.

For the record, I drive a 98 Accord LX. 4-cylinder with A STICK! I have two jobs, a 5-year-old son, etc...the Civic SI with the Mugen body kit is a fond memory...needed a back seat to restrain, I mean, transport the child.

I agree this is very frustrating - what is odd is that they did make the Acura Legend with a 5-speed for years, but no more. This is, in no small part, why I drive a Nissan Maxima SE.

You could put the 5-year old in the passenger seat of an NSX ;) 3.2 liter V6 + 6-speed:p

Umm, there are 6 speed versions of the TL and CL Type S coming out next model year.

And, the RSX Type S is standard 6 speed.

Really? 6-speed versions of the CL-S? I may have to look into that...or a Maxima SE! That Max rocks big time.

One thing I noticed when I went from a sporty 2-door hatch (93 Civic SI) to a blah car (98 Accord LX) is that you're basically invisible to cops now. Oh sure I still get pulled over, but not even half as much as I used to. Stealth speeding; I love it!

the 5 speed auto is much better than 4 speed autos, you gotta admit. closer gears, faster acceleration. get it reprogrammed to go from luxury type shifting to hard and fast shifting like the performance guys at maxima.org and you'll probably get better times out of it. not a 6 second car but maybe 6.2. and putting a 5 year old in a front seat... i don't think thats a good thing, even if the car is a 2 seater.

The RSX is the Integra replacement that's based on the Civic platform- the RSX Type S has a 200hp I-4 revving to around 7800rpm with a 6-speed manual, sport tuned suspension.

I belive the CL, even the Type S, will always be a auto as its targeting an older, more
luxury oriented audiance.

I'd be veeery suprised if Acura actually came out with a 6 speed for the CL- even the CL Type S has a pretty floaty suspension- not anything you can really use for agressive driving.

Make sure to take a look at the new Altima as well - it is actually a hair larger than the current Max, has a much nicer, independent rear suspension, and is available with a 3.5 liter, 240 bhp V-6 and 6-speed for MUCH less money than the TL Type S or CL Type S.

Damn-didly-am right you are! I really like those 5-spd V-Tec Accords. A midsize car with excellent overall mileage, just enough power, and cops either don?t notice you, or just ignore you.

Honda makes damn fine automobiles. I?m on my fifth Honda. I?ve never ?riced? any of them. The only time I make it look different is if I get performance from the deal, like with new tires and wheels.
