Got to work at 8, couldn't sign in. Still no joy. AIM was the only thing keeping me from shooting idiot users and it's been down all morning!

I had one person who couldn't figure out which drive the floppy went in. Trying to put a floppy in the ZIP drive is understandable, albeit kinda low on the computer intelligence scale. This guy couldn't even do that. First he tried to put the floppy in the CD-ROM drive. Then when I showed him the floppy drive, he pushed the button on it and asked why the tray wasn't opening. Making everything complete, he then tries to put the diskette in upside down. This wasn't some freshman either, this was a person in a couple higher-level university classes who couldn't figure out a floppy drive. Part of me has to wonder how this guy manages to make toast in the morning.

Just wait until you have someone try to JAM/CRAM an Ethernet cable into a 56k modem jack :)

I remember getting called to a machine where a guy put the floppy in upside down and forced it all the way in.
That drive was finished.

Thankfully they at least know they aren't supposed to screw around with the stuff behind the computers here in the labs.

Just got another one: "I'm kind of in a hurry, can you make the printers go faster?"

This was said to me as I was in the middle of doing nothing but file new printouts for a good 20 minutes.

And this is why I decided to move away from public technical support and into freelancer roles. Same morons, just more money.
