Is there any way we could get a 'all threads started by you' addition to the search drop down?

I realize it is simple to click through to the advanced search or subscribed threads, but it would be fewer clicks and more convenient if it came out of the search drop down.

In this time period, with the increasing number of people on mobile devices, I think it would improve forum usability on the go- tablets, phones, etc.

Thanks!

Yes...that is what I am saying- you have to go to your profile first, you cannot click on the search header and do a search from there

Search, Advanced search, Search by User Name, User Name: Find all threads started by user.

It blows my mind that 3 mouse clicks is too much for people, yet they will click a thousand times an hour playing WoW.
Mindboggling.

Search, Advanced search, Search by User Name, User Name: Find all threads started by user.

I can only assume this was sarcasm or condescension. It is obvious that I know how to use the search function, I am unsure as to why I am being met with such closed-mindedness. It seems like most of the replies to suggestions are with a tone of defensiveness. I am not attacking AT, just throwing something out there that could make it easier for people just stopping by on phones/tablets/netbooks/etc.

Using vBulletin, it should take very little to implement this system- is the apprehension regarding the initial implementation, or would this have a negative impact elsewhere? Maybe I am not seeing all the associated costs of doing something like this- does anyone have an idea?

I am genuinely interested in knowing- I hope my post does not come off as offensive in any way.

Thanks!

I fail to see the need for this "feature" when what you seek is a mere few clicks away to begin with.

I fail to see the need for this "feature" when what you seek is a mere few clicks away to begin with.

For instance- I could format harddrive through CMD. With the emergence of thumb drives, I would think more people just right click on the icon and click 'format'.

2 ways to do one thing, Yet people do use the newer way to format (unless making a bootable drive). I think this is because a) it is easier and b) new devices made the change sensible.

Consider any new UI in the last 5 years- everyone is moving to tabs and icons. Its the same way to do something, but people eat it up. I am not saying "conform! be like everyone else!", but it does seem like simple moves like this are appreciated by people as a whole.

If it is too hard to implement, fine. But if it is not- why not try it and see if it is used? Log the click-throughs.

As a side note- I hate it when people say 'x is too difficult, make it easier so I can understand'. I can understand the sentiment of 'nut up Max, its one more click'. *But*, when I am out on the road, with my phone or slow netbook, waiting for an additional page to load sucks.

From your comments, I see that your mind is made up, so there is little else I can say. I have seen this feature implemented on other forums, and it is very handy. So my question is, what is the detriment?

It seems like a suggestion box should be approached with 'why not', instead of 'why would we need to do that, its working fine'. Looking at other suggestions, I see this is the common approach here. I feel that if the mods explained why we couldn't make suggested changes, it would be much more constructive.

Any change to the default template of a forum requires work. Any further updates to said forum would require testing to ensure this "feature" is compatible. Some features simply are not worth the effort to same a couple of clicks.

Perhaps if there was an outcry of thousands of users asking for a right click, search it may be considered. Sorry, this isn't a feature that is really needed. We have bigger fish to fry. Find us better tools to keep trolls and spammers at bay, we'll look at those. Reducing your search to one click is not our priority.

I see your points, and that is really what I was looking for. I definitely agree that anti-troll software is a higher priority.

Since I had seen it on other forums, I was just wondering if it had been disabled on here from the beginning (switch from the old forum) for some reason.

Anyway, I appreciate your time laying that out. Maybe in the future where spammers and trolls no longer exist, we'll revisit this ;-)

Thanks,
Max
