In view of the troubles I personally had with Maxtor DiamondMax 9 HDs,
and the large number of complaints about Maxtor on this forum:

I was wondering what models are your defective HDs - I'm hoping we could, perhaps, figure out if certain models are more prone to dying than others.
So far, I had 4 (four) DiamondMax 9 @ 80 GB and one Diamondmax 9 @160 GB die shamelessly on me.
