All those of you who crunched WCG during the last month or so, and who can not find your name in TA ...

In WCG the team representing TeAm AnandTech does not have the name "TeAm AnandTech". It is called anandtech.

This has some very interesting implications:

1. The credits you crunch there are not added to the TeAm AnandTech's credits at the stats-sites such as BOINCStats, because anandtech is a separate team. This would not be too bad, but ...

2. In BOINCStats there is a bug in the code which results in that all your results - from all the BOINC-projects you crunch, including those you crunch under the name of TeAm AnandTech - are not added to the TeAm AnandTech's stats.

Thus, in BOINCStats:
Lets say that you crunch seti@home, climate prediction, leiden classical, QMC, RCN and belong to the TeAm AnandTech, then you decide to crunch WCG and join anandtech, you will disappear from the roster of TeAm AnandTech and appear in anandtech. All your results will be moved to anandtech and are not longer counted in TeAm AnandTech.

This has happened to me, to Rudy Toody, Perry Maskell, Fardringle, caferace, Ingleside, Dwight Ringdahl, Silverthorne, Tom Philippart. Salvorhardin, rabrittain, GLeeM, Geldor1 and many others during the last month.

Please look here!

All those who have the label "new" in the "last month" column have - probably without them knowing this - left TeAm AnandTech and joined anandtech.

If that is your wish, no problem. If that is not your wish, there is a simple solution:

Just leave in WCG the anandtech-team.

I do think this is a bug in BOINCStats's scripts or code.
I do not think this is malicious.
Please do not be upset with Willy @ BOINCStats or with anybody else.

It is so simple to correct and then our TeAm AnandTech will regain 16 - 18 million credits ...

There is as yet no TeAm AnandTech in WCG, but I think there will be one soon.
Some of us are trying to get in touch with the team captain to ask him to change the name to TeAm AnandTech. I hope we will succeed soon! If we do not succeed within reasonable time, one of us (Tom Philippart or myself) will create a TeAm AnandTech @ WCG.

I could have - of course - left a bug report at BOINCStats, but I have forgotten my password. When trying to create a new account/identity, the of course I get the message that I already have an account ...

If someone wants to hail Willy @ BOINCStats, please feel free ... but I think there will be problems ... and the solution above is very much simple.

I say just make a TeAm Anandtech now. To much effort is being expended trying to change the old one. The harder process will be getting everyone on the team "anandtech" to switch. I estimate that we'll get 90% of the users and 99% of the credit switched over to the proper team, but we have nothing to lose.

The only downside of joining the future TeAm AnandTech is that you won't be able to add the credits crunched for Anandtech to TeAm AnandTech, WCG has a weird way of separating teams and credits

Well, we may get 90% of the users, but we will get 0% of the already crunched credits because the credits stay with the "old" team. I myself prefer to try to get the captain to change the name, that way we will get 100% of the crunchers and 100& of the credits ...

For me the loss of some 50 K of credits is not too bad, but for others that may be a really hard thing to take. For the sake of the team unity - waiting does not hurt at all and there may be some benefit.

Gotcha, forgot about that part. You wont personally lose any credits though.

Sorry, but you will lose your personal boinc credits, I've already made that experience with around 1100 credits on WCG.

It's sad to lose them all, it makes about 18% of all my boinc credits

I'm confused (quite normal these days, thanks ) but if I leave the WCG 'anandtech' team, am I going to lose credits on my general stats at BOINC-stats or elsewhere? I "only" have 86k (~5.2% of my total) but every 'stone counts. And if needed, should I re-attach to a new TeAm for any future WCG crunching?

You will loose no credits at all. They are "bound" to your name.
Team AnandTech will gain all your credits except your WCG-credits (because you will not be a member of the TeAm in WCG), but OTOH the TeAm has not had your WCG-credits because you belonged to the anandtech-team ...
You can attach to a future TeAm AnandTech for future crunching in WCG.
If the captain renames anandtech to TeAm Anandtech and you reattach then your future and your "old" credits go to the TeAm.
If the captain does not rename anandtech to TeAm AnandTech, then your "old" credits stay with anandtech and your new credits go to the TeAm.

It is not so complicated ...

That is very odd ...

I have not lost any of my credits ... I have seen that petrusbroder has all his credits - irrespective if they are crunched for the TeAm or for anandtech.

The TeAm has not obtained my WCG-anandtech-credits because they were crunched for anandtech and not for the TeAm.

Tom, please check again: have you (when looking at your personal stats) really lost those BOINC-credits? According to this table all your credits are with you ... or am I wrong?

It may depend on how you look at your data: if you follow a link from a team's page or if you search for your self from the home page - in my case the numbers are the same ... but that need not to be the case for all ...

lol I keep mixing the 2 systems up, if you look at the team stats on wcg.com, not all my credits are listed, I lost around 1100 credits, however if you look at the team stats at Boincstats, all my credits are listed.

OK, TeAm - mates, I have the following proposal: If I or some other active member of do not get in touch with the captain of the anandtech-team in WCG within 72 hours from now (i.e. before 15:00 o'clock, July 15, 2007) I will create a team in WCG which will be called TeAm AnandTech ( Right, Smoke? )

Those who want are very welcome to join/switch. I'll then leave the account particulars with Smoke, Tom Philippart, BlackMountainCow and Wiz, all of whom I regard as members of excellent standing. If you have any comments, ideas or critique, please post here as soon as possible.
