All the javascript buttons and links...

...are really lame. It was so nice to be able to shift click to open multiple quote boxes at the same time, as well as open a search window without disturbing the current window. Same goes for replying to a thread - why should the original page get refreshed when I post a reply. I used to be able to open a new reply box, submit it, and continue with the original page untouched.

Stupid design choice, IMO.

as far as the search goes, you still can: look to the left in the search module and shift click advanced.

as far as opening multiple quote boxes at the same time, you still can: just click quote on all the posts you want to, a new window will open for each.

so what's the problem?

Stupid to some, a UI to others. BTW, you are absolutely incorrect about posting, in previous versions after you replied the thread was refreshed. And, posting before was about 40% slower, as the entire thread had to load below the reply window, inefficient and useless.

It isn't changing, but feedback is feedback and it's taken in.

And type-ahead doesn't work either.
I don't see the point in all this JS nonsense considering it offers nothing that the old version of FT didn't, but it prevents many useful things from working.

Sunner, I completely disagree (as would most of our clients), regarding usefulness. Opening a window offers alot in terms of navigating the thread before finishing a post. This is the only forum out of all our intallations that has an issue with it, which I suspect comes from the technical nature of the forum. Javascript is an accepted client side scripting language, and is required on a large portion of web applications, fusetalk is no different. There are lots of other boards that use windows for navigation.

We are not taking it out or altering it at this time.

Thanks.

Sounds pretty reasonable, unfortunately us techies often get burned by the requirements of the less gifted 😉

My main pet-peeve is just what I specified, that the boxes don't contain any text(in the "traditional" form), and hence don't work with things like type-ahead or middle-click to open new tabs.
Note that I'm only referring to the top "toolbar", Search, New Topic, etc.
