You wait until the thaw. Or find a detail shop that will let you use one of their heated bays.

BTW, I feel your pain. It's -3 here.

Ummm I don't know...go to a carwash:confused:

It's -40 Fahrenheit here and I can still wash the car...just make sure you dry it before you leave (otherwise all the doors/locks will be frozen).

I wait until spring. Live with the dirt during the winter.

Live with dirt? Not an option :)

On a lighter note: you could encase the parking offenders' cars in ice as a means of expressing your displeasure at them taking your space. :D

Hose off your car and then find out the doors are frozen shut. Break door handles and/or weather strips when trying to open. Decide that wasn't such a good idea.

Yeah I did...I just thought you were stupid;)

How does a car wash freeze over?? All the carwashes I have seen are indoors (automatic and hand wash)?

I guess I have a 'northern' perspective on this?

This is florida, nothing down here is really made to withstand ice... i tried 5 different automatic and 1 handwash place.. all were closed.

All the car washes here on Long Island are still running. And the temps have been in the teens and below for about 10 days straight.

Why go to a car wash? I washed both of my cars last Saturday morning, and it was less than 10 F outside.
Here's how. Get a 5 gallon bucket, put soap in it, and put the hottest water in it that you can. Face the side of the car that you are washing toward the sun, and then wash one section of it at a time. Don't worry about rinsing it off first or last. Just use a chamee (or however you spell it) to dry one section after you wash it. I usually wash a section that is the size of one door, and then immediately dry it off. It worked perfectly, and the cars looked great!

Well if they are all closed b/c of ice, I DEFINITELY would not try washing my car outside. What will happen is a big skating rink around the car and a layer of ice over the whole car. Doesn't matter if you use hot water, it will freeze. Just wait until a place opens up.

that could be fun!!.... and when yo udo it, don't spray directly after the first time... just kind of mist it over... you don't want to blow the first layer of ice off ;)

don't wash your car :) Seriously i go to full auto carwash like one ever 4-5 don't see a reason why the car needs to be washed every single week and why people wash the car them self instead of paying someone to wash it for them.

Why are you concerned with washing your car if it's freezing out?

I'd be more concerned about staying the hell off the roads.

Exactly. We used to turn our backyard into a hockey rink back in MI this way.

Why even bother? If I were to take my car to the carwash right now (I live in NC, we just got hit big with some snow), by the time I drive back home my car will be caked again with muddy snow and salt.

3" around here, 9" - 10" in the mountains, 12" at the coast. Hell, 1/2" is good enough to get the kids out of school :) We don't get much snow around here (the NC coast got 12 inches; their highest in 14 years). It's still pretty icey and horrible out. A cop just lost BOTH his legs when a semi slammed into his cruiser :( And three semis were BLOWN OVER today by high winds:Q
