All of the sudden...my screen saver will not not work.

Hello everyone! 🙂

Something weird is going on with my PC, but have no idea what to doabout it. All of the sudden, my screen saver will not work. I am running Windows XP Professional on my rig. Everything else is running fine, save for the screen saver. I am using the XP screen saver, not some third party program.

Also, the powersaver functions have ceased to work as well. I noticed the problem after I used Norton System Works to defrag my hard drive. Could something have happened during the defrag operation to cause this? And if so, what can I do about it? It is important to me, since I turn my rig on as soon as I get home, and leave it on 'till I go to bed.

Thanks for any help or info! 😀

If what DaiShan says doesn't work, do the same thing but reboot inbetween. Also, try disabling Norton and see if it'll work then(rebooting also). Obviously you don't want to run like this but if it's the prob, at least you'll know. I've heard of Norton doing wierd things to other programs or functions.

I had the same thing happen with XP Pro 2 days ago. The fix was easy - I uninstalled the screen saver and then reinstalled it. Who can say what corrupts a link? 🙂
