all of the sudden my rear speakers barely work

i have logitech Z-640 5.1 speakers and a creative audigy 2 ZS. i had them for a few months now and all of the sudden the 2 rear speakers give out like 1/5 of what they used to, i cant remember if the speakers came with software and i reinstalled my sound card software. what the hell could the problem be???
 
I had this problem quite often when my Audigy 2 (regular, plain).

Windows was always defaulting to 2.1

Check to see if it still says (In Windows AND Creative Software[the more important of the two]) that it's still set to 5.1.
 
yes it is set to 5.1 but as i said my rear speakers are giving sound but just very little so my pc must recognise them
