I could never get the Nvidia refresh overrides to work in everything. A better option is to use Rivatuner a create a custom monitor driver (inf file) with the desired minimum refresh rate at each resolution.

Your new monitor may not even support the refresh rates and/or resolutions you're trying to force.

Does the video card play a part in this? I know its not the OP's situation(I think the monitor driver install may work) but I switched from Nvidia to ATI card and now can't hit as high of refresh rates as the old card could(same monitor). Is this a driver thing?

Samsung 914v LCD... I know for fact that it can do 1280x1024 @ 77hz and it can do that at all lower resolutions, because if i change the DESKTOP to a custom resolution it would immediately do so. And i know its at 77 because i check the hardware OSD and it tells me that it is running at 77. This is the limit because if i try 78 I'd start getting a message in the OSD of the monitor telling me it's not at optimal resolution "please switch to 1280x1024 - 60Hz.

I'm also trying to force refresh rate on Doom 3 because I get tearing more when it is locked at 60. THERE is a difference between higher refreshrate and lower. I remember on my CRT monitor, before the refreshrate was upped the frames were hitting 36 min, and after i changed the refresh to that monitor's max 89hz, it was hitting at lowest 48. SO, imo that is a big difference.

For those of you who might say "you can't see the diff" "Fraps says YOU CAN"
