That was wierd. It went as fast as it came.

What do those gold icons represent anyway? That's all I was getting, now I'm getting a few among the regular hits.

Those price tags are a mystery to me, but the gold icons i believe denote maybe a protected media/file type.

When i did a search for audio files, the gold icons were files with the .wma extension instead of .mp3 / .wav

I could not find any gold icon files for any other searches on different media.

I had noticed that when I went looking for recorded media clips from some TV news shows, that these popped up on some items.

I was doing a general search, the items that popped up were not directly related.

Could it be that somebody is "trolling" for customers to download an item and then when it is attempted to be played, generates a registration/pay requirement?

Almost like a Pay-per-View situation?

Was this for all Kazaa users, or only for those who still use the official version, and NOT the Lite one?

I had a brief wave of fear that I'd missed a news release about kazaa opening up a charging system directed by the recording industry

The gold icons as explained on kazaa.com:
"Gold Icons identify high quality files brought to you from professional creators via Altnet. These files are digitally rights managed and typically offered on a free-trial basis, before it must be paid for. "
From here

I've seen these pop up occasionally on kazaa lite too.
