My first time building a computer, so of course i have some newbie questions. Here is my system that im building:

Aspire Turbo Case-X
Antec True Power 430 Watt
MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum
Athlon 3000+ -OEM 939
Zalman Heatsink
Arctic Silver 5
WD 74 GB Raptor
(2x512) Kingston Hyper-X Low Latency (2-2-2-5) Ram
ATI Radeon 9800 pro
NEC ND-3500A 16x DVD+/-RW Drive
NEC 1.44" Floppy Drive
Sony 17" LCD
Microsoft Natrual Keyboard
Logitech MX510 Performance Mouse

Now i got my processor sitting infront of me, and its a big silver pad on the top of it, is that where i apply the AS5 to? From what i read on the instructions i put about 3/4 of a BB size on the middle of the pad, then take my Zalman heatsink and place it on the processor and lock it into place. then i rotate the heatsink about 1-2 degrees left, then right to minimize air bubbles. did i understand this correctly?

Also is my heatsink correct? when i ordered it i was sure it would work with athlon 939's, but i dont see it on the list. Thanks
 
Yes, you want to apply the thermal paste to the top of the heat spreader, its very easy to do, just put a dab in the middle about the size of a grain of rice.

WRONG HSF, you bought a HSF for Socket 478 and Socket A. You need one for Socket 939.
