Future 600cc F3 owner. I'm just picking out my gear right now. Teknic for the leathers - but i'm still searchin for a lid.

What's everyone else out here ride?

I'd go with a Shoei or a Arai and it depends on your head. I seem to have a Shoei head and that's why I have a Shoei helmet. The Arai's are just too short for me in the chin area.

The F3 is a good bike. I hope it's not thrashed though like many 600's are used. I had a CBR900RR and though it was a good bike, the R1 just stomps it. If I were you, I'd look for a R6. Probably out of your price range though. :(

Hey-uup... One more for your list.

I got 3, does that count?

BTW.. make sure you get a good lid. You only have one melon, but will have plenty more paychecks if you keep that melon in one good piece, get it??? Heheh...

I got to do my usual stuff before chiping in:

Do you know how to ride. If no, please take MSF course www.msf-usa.org . If you do know how to ride I still will suggest it for the 10% insurnace drop. If you are a Newbie.. an CBRF3 would be a little too much of a bike. However if you do take it, you really got to be real careful and take it real slow and cautious or you will lose it real quickly, before even you can say "oh sh*t"...

Now as for the helmets. I prefer Arai compared to Shoei. Though both a very good helmets. Since your buying the good leathers, you got money to burn. I would suggest Arai. Though for me its more of a fit and finish than the brand name. I dont have an Arai, but I have a "Vega" as my primary helmet and a HJC as my secondary (for those occasional passengers - this one is an open face 3/4 helmet with a full size windshild in front). I am going to get an Arai later though. I just need to save some more money. For the moment the Vega does fine. I bought vega since I recognised the name (i had one in India). Though vega is pretty well known in the dirt bike markets. What ever you do make sure your helmet is DOT certified (for the basic minimum) but its a good idea to have Snell M2000 certification too (that is the latest - most you can go down is to Snell M95 - but that is an older spec helmet). My helmet is a Snell M95 helmet but at that time when i bought my helmet the M2000 had just come into the market as a spec. But M95 isnt a bad spec, however now-a-days I will only look at Snell M2000 helmets.

As for my ride.. check out my signature....

I have a Shoei RF900, and while it's a really good helmet, I don't wear it much. If I rode a crotch rocket I would, but that isn't gonna happen any time soon. I may get a beanie just to shut people up about me not wearing a helmet, otherwise I found a really sweet helmet recently that I may pick up.

Check out the Roof Boxer and look at the animation. It looks like something a fighter pilot would wear. It can be worn as a 3/4, 3/4 with visor, or full face.

I've ridden a YZF600 for the past 3 years, hoping to upgrade to an R1 or 929RR this season, if the bank account allows. My girlfriend thinks I should spend that money on an engagement ring. Um, no.

FZR600 rider here. I would like to spend the money and get a brand new R1 but the gf sucks the lifeblood out of me.

Here is my idea (does this seem logical?):
1. Originally, I bought the motorcycle to get the girl.
2. I got the girl

Does it follow that:
1. Upgrade the motorcycle.
2. I can upgrade the girl?

(I hope to God my gf never reads these forums)

1982 Honda CB450SC Nighthawk here. No intention of changing that any time soon, though when I do I'm buying a Valkrie. Always had a soft spot for a flat-six.

Seems like there is a motorcycle thread popping up about once a month; I like to see that! :)

I have pictures of my motorcycle in my profile. The pictures are not really very recent, but they'll do.
I have my eye on an SV650S for one of these days; I've got to get a WRX first though.

BTW - The Good Guy, Shoei and Arai are designed almost identical. Arai helmets are made for
those that have round heads, Shoei helmets are designed for taller heads. I have a Shoei
RF-900, because Shoei's fit me perfectly. Arai helmets are too tight, and I couldn't find a
good size. I love my Shoei, but now I've got to get a a Fog City insert because it fogs
up pretty bad.

Another rider here.
Scared the crap out of myself this afternoon going to lunch. I went around a turn and I guess I hit a oil slick or something. The front of the bike slid about a foot to the left while I was leaning making a right, then it caught traction again. Let me tell you, my butt is still sore from puckering up on that one.
