All KT133A boards held....

Seems like all the KT133a boards are being held in Taiwan for customs check. Story seems to be that customs officials in Taiwan are checking all the boards being exported due to counterfeit Winbond chips. Winbond chips are common chips used in almost all motherboards.....🙁

This is one of the reasons K7T Turbo-R is not here yet....still stuck in Taiwan 🙁

I couldn't wait...so I picked up a KT7A-RAID. I can't complain as I am running my new 1.2ghz bird at 1350 (9X150) at default voltages...🙂

I hate waiting...🙂

Damn counterfeiters....

Supposedly the new shipments of ABIT KT7A RAID boards are being inspected too....🙁 No wonder no one has them anymore..

I would but my source is from my distributor 😛

Forgot what the Winbond chip controls but it's pretty common in motherboards. The chips are suppose to be fake and infrige some US patents. I'm trying to get more info.

Winbond makes hardware monitoring chips, and they also make BIOS chips... which seems most likely to be the culprit since nearly all recent Taiwanese motherboards I've had have had Winbond BIOS chips. Seems like they'd be easy to counterfeit as well... easy swap-in and out.

Just a guess.

just a quick question...
does neone happen to know if I would be able to pick up the new KT133A motherboards in taiwan??
cause my brother is coming next week.. wondering if I coudl get him to buy one for me..
or is it one of those things that they only ship to states and not sell in taiwan itself..

So what are the reprecussions for those who have already purchased these boards?Check this out,i set the CPU voltage to 1.85 and when i hit enter to leave the field my screen showed a 4x4 inch multi-color,set of vertical lines with rotating smiley faces with the Bios in the background,i had to reboot to escape this!WTF?And no i was not under the influence of any substance. This seriously took place and the board is on its way back.

>MassMhz, Haha, that's interesting 😉

I really hope they can get this thing solved soon.. my system update is waiting for that MSI turbo board :|

hahahah, u said this happened with the msi turbo?

how'd u get your hands on one of those?

hey that makes me glad the customs got em, imagine that happening to the 1000's of people who buy that board.

hahaha good story

Actually its because Winbond is screwed with some patent infringment charges in the USA... so customs was told not to allow any product with this chip in to the US.

<< hahahah, u said this happened with the msi turbo? >>

No SammyBoy,it happened with the Abit KT7A Raid.I want another KT133a mobo but not that one,if MSI gives the #s i want, i will probably get it or try a different chipset all together.

oh fer chrissakes, my damn upgrade is waiting for this damn board!!!

BLAH!!!!!!!!!! 🙁:Q🙁:|:disgust::frown:😕
