Does anyone know what the difference between the AIW Radeon 32DDR Retail vs OEM (besides the price) ?

Looks like the Retail is about $150 and the OEM is around $120.

I need one of these cards.

AIW Retail includes some cables, an DVI->VGA adapter, and the breakout box (which is absolutely necessary). And a colorful box.

The OEM includes none of the above. I believe you can get them from ATI directly for like $5 ea, $10 for the breakout box. That's probably the $30 difference between the items.

Also, I'm not positive, but the OEM may not include the software!! The ATI software package on the AIW is great, has like 5 CD's of programs, and the defining TVPlus TV Tuner software that gives you TiVo-like capabilities.

Go with the retail. Or search the FS forum, I think I saw one for sale earlier today.

The breakout box has like audio/video in/out plugs. There were too many to fit on the back of the card, so you plug it into the breakout box and plug the breakout box into the AIW.

If we're talking about the All in Wonder Radeon and not the AIW Radeon 7500/8500, I don't think the retail version comes with the breakout box. When I bought mine last year, it didn't have it.

But please, somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this if ATI's started including the breakout box on the AIW Radeon as well.

As for the original question, Sensor's right about the retail coming with the software, cables, & DVI-->VGA converter. However, I wouldn't really say that you would need any of the extras that come with the retail with the exception of the DVI-->VGA adapter (unless you have an LCD) & maybe the GuidePlus software that you might be able to get from somebody who owns an AIW. All the games are pretty outdated by now and I don't think I've used any of the cables that came with it either.

They have always included the breakout box on the AIW cards, and I believe the cables and Driver CD ARE included on the OEM cards. The only cards I'm aware of that don't include the cables is the refurbished OEM's from Newegg. The software package(MerlinVR, Ulead VideoStudio 4, Mediator 5)and used to be the only difference between the OEM and retail versions, but check with the vender first to make sure what you are getting.
