Hey folks,

Anyone had any experience with either of these cards? I know their both new and I am looking for a good mpeg-2 video capture card. I have a Radeon 32DDR now and have had zero issues with it. The Hauppauge adds a FM-tuner which is nice.
Any comments?

Er. Radeon is a video card with TV tuner onboard. The WinTV is an addon board. If you want MPEG2 capture, you're going with the Radeon, as the Hauppauge only does AVI capture (you can use the DivX codec, but then you need an absurdly powerful system to get that kind of compression on the fly. My system is a TBird 900 with 2 IBM 75GXP 30GB drives, and all I manage to do is 400x300 or so when compressing to DivX). I THINK the AIW Radeon does part of the MPEG2 encoding in hardware, but I'm not sure to what extent.

The Hauppauge is an add-on board and I did say that I already have a Radeon, so that's a mute point. The WinTV-PVR version does do MPEG-2. See for yourself on thier website.

Thanks for the input.

Hrm. My mistake. If you already have a Radeon, and the Hauppauge does MPEG, go with the Hauppauge. Doesn't make much sense to replace your video card for just that feature. On my WinTV Stereo, anyway, the quality of capture was acceptable.
