Can anyone give me and information about how the all in wonder radeon 8500DV tv tuner works? i'm looking for a card to take to college with me and i want a tv tuner. So far this is the best one i've found. I have a Athlon T-bird 1.4 ghz processor and win xp. I tried the usb tv tuner by ati and it sucked they were never updating the drives so i'm a little hesitant to go with ati but so far i've read good revies on this card. I'd realy appreciat any info. you can give me. thanks

Anand did a thorough review of four or five competing video cards with integrated TV tuners.

Anand's review.

He really like the Radeon. The performance of the new All in Wonder Radeons (7500, 8500DV and 8500 128 MB) only differs with respect to gaming. (The three cards don't use the same TV tuner - the 8500DV (and may be the 7500 - I forget) use a digital tuner and the 128 MB card uses an analog tuner. However, the impact on tuner performance did not seem to be important to Anand.) Also, the card may not perform as well in games as the regular Radeons - I believe they are clocked a little slower.

thanks, yeah i read anands review, i was wondering if anyone had any personal expericnec with it especialy with win xp,

I've got the radeon 8500dv and the video is nice. It doesn't seem the best, but I'm thinking it could be because of my cable. When I get digital cable i'm hoping for an improvement in picture quality. I can't really complain, it is pretty nice and works well.

ATI probably leads the way in the all in one package deal. I don't know of one video card that comes with an radio frequencey remote control so you can control the tv/dvd from another room. Big A+ in my book.

hey bumnah - what size monitor are you using?

i'm using a 21" sony g520p and at 1600x1200 my text is kinda fuzzy. wondering if you might have noticed the same thing

I'm using a 19" Sonry Trinitron Multiscan E400. My text seems fine. I'm running at 1280x1024 @ 32 bit 85 hertz. Everything is fine.... I'd like to go to 1600x1200, I'm just a little girl. 🙂

I have an aiw radeon 8500dv and use it with XP pro and it works great. I have had no problems with any games or video problems. I use the turner with digital cable and the quality is pretty nice (1024x768, 32bit, 80hz, viewsonic g771). The digital vcr works well and and the hydravision technology makes for cool surfing during commercials.
