I'm need to be able to hook up a digital camera to our PC. We were told that we needed a video card that had VGA or firewire. I have never heard of a video card that had any firewire access on it. I automaticly thought of a Geforce 3 Ti500.. It has VGA/TV/S-video/DVI-I

but a guy at circuit city told the wife we need a All-in-wonder 7500 to get it to work...

Will a GF card work or do we really need the AIW.

oi !

If what you are asking is "do i need a high zoot video card to load video to my computer from my DV camcorder?" the answer is NO.

If you need firewire, all you need is a firewire PCI card ($30) though you would need some software too... Like Pinnacle or DV Suite which both include the firewire (1394) card for under a hundred bucks. If it's a digital still camera you have that need the firewire, the software isn't a big deal.

I don't see where the video card has anything to do with it really, as long as you have a 1394 firewire port.

(i use a USB digital still camera, and a canon firewire DV camcorder with pinnacle myself)

What the 7500 has is video capture. The GF3 Ti500 you describe has no video INputs at all, just outputs, so that will not do.

As was said, if you've got firewire, just buy a PCI firewire card. That will be a lot cheaper than a new video card and you'll be all set.

I just bought a Audigy gamer sound card that has a fire wire port on it. It works with IEEE 1394, that might do the trick huh?
