All-in-one video card : does it exist ?

Hi,

Is there any video card which can do all (or most) of these ?
- 3D acceleration (with all it's goodies, i.e. all polynomial xformations, shading etc. etc.)
- supports both OpenGL & DirectX 9
- does S-Video out
- does Video-capture (S-VHS, Component video)
- does real-time onboard MPEG1, MPEG2 compression (& hopefully MPEG4 too)

tnx,
bd

Nvidia also has its own line

And for some reason i chuckle when i see your see post😉 I just imagine this being asked at BestBuy and watching as the guy spoke that you should get nothing less than dual 6800s in SLI, but to do that you need a computer with a base of 2 gigs minimum becauseof the overhead and that meant owning a P4EE or FX at the minimum so you can support more han 1 gig of ram, but this is turn meant that you needed 500 dollar speakers to get anything remotely sounding nice... 😉

Tho the X800 Series doesn't do MPEG4, does it? THe 6800 does have an onboard chip that once it gets drivers written for it supposely will aid in the compression of MPEG4 but I don't know if anything has materialized

I did check the ATI All In Wonder 9600 PRO specs, but it wasn't clear whether it did onboard (not s/w based), realtime (& not offline) MPEG1/MPEG2 compression ? It's essential to me, 'coz i wanted to make some VCD's from my analog handycam!!

tnx for the inputs.

Yep, ATI's all-in-wonders with the Rage Theatre 200 chip do real-time MPEG2 compression!

The cards with this chip are:
AIW "VE" PCI
AIW Radeon 9000
AIW Radeon 9600
AIW Radeon 9700 (double-check this one - some might not, this is when it was introduced.)
AIW 9800
and upwards. 🙂
