Does anyone know of a remote control that can control:

DirecTV
Receiver
DVD
VCR

all in one? The DirecTV and Receiver capabilities are a must - I can get by with using seperate remotes for DVD and VCR, although it would be nice to not have to.

EDIT: I have TIVO with my DirecTV. Will the remotes recommended support the TIVO functions?

Either a Harmony or a Universal Home Theater Master...or you want to play around some more, a Philips Pronto :) not knowing much about the Harmony's, I'd suggest the HTM MX-500.

Home Theater;)

EDIT: Don't pay more then about $100 for it before shipping tho.

2nd EDIT: Fully programable. It will control anything that uses an infared remote.

First of all I would recommend reading this thread which has some good info from ATOT'ers concerning universal remotes.

Search RemoteCentral.com for remotes which are compatible with your TIVO.

After hours of research I chose the MX-500.

YGPM on where to get it for a good price :)

I have the Harmony SST-659 and I love it. It works perfectly for all my devices (tv, tivo, digital cable box, dvd player, and sound system). being able to plug it into my pc and fully customize all the buttons was the biggest selling point for me.

What about the placement of the PVR (TIVO) buttons at the very bottom?

doesn't bother me at all. but if it did, I could program any of the buttons in the middle of the remote to handle commonly used PVR functions.

previous channel and mute, for example, are in great position to handle play and fast foward.

I don't know as I haven't purchased the remote (yet) and our DirecTIVO is disconnected. We use ReplayTV with cable.

I use a MX-500.

It's pretty neat, and my only complaint is that the power buttons are too easy to press.
They shouldn't be on the outside corners IMHO.

i got he MX-700 and love it..it controls everything in my HT setup including my Dishnetwork PVR.

I got it because you can edit everythign on it and program the macros through your computer and download the info to your control..

i doubt there is anything it wont control :)

edit: go to remotecentral like everyone has suggested they have very in depth articles plus visit the forums liek i did and you will get a feel of what others think of the various remotes you might be interested in

There is one company called One For All. They're inexpensive, even sold at Wal*Mart! Anyway, I've been using them for years now and their remote is great, especially for the price. The ones at wal mart control everything except items that use a radio frequency (right word?). Since the remote doesn't transmit that, they give another box that does the transmitting of the radio signal for things like your satelite receiver

Make sure to check them out, they do a great job for the price and my family actually has no complaints.

There are a couple of Univeral One-for-All remotes that support TIVO. Be careful, though, one of them you have to ship in at your cost to get the upgrade.

My understanding after researching that model is that it does NOT - at least not the Sony Sat-B60. I have found only 1 that does and you still have to send it in to have it programmed to do it.
