This is not a specific hot deal, just a general heads up that tomorrow you will see lots of lower prices for your fav ATI model.
I see nothing yet on Hot Deals reflecting the new prices.
The major changes are in the article below.
Newegg is jumping right on this

http://www.dailytech.com/AMD+P...rices/article10796.htm

If any mod wants to delete this - go right ahead

MOD EDIT: Being that it isn't a hot deal and is a video card discussion, maybe it should be under Video Cards... - Zap

Cheaper is fine.... power/quieter I could care less about.

I game on a 24" running 1920 resolution. +256mb of ram will be worth my money to me.

MSI 8800GT @200 almost got me though

I thought the 512mb 8800GTS was faster than the 768mb GTX? and cheaper and cooler running?

hopefully with price dro pthe 3870 x2 price will come down a lot.

I ordered an ATI 3870 2 days ago for 219 shipped, which before the price drop was IMO a good deal for a single slot 3870. 2 hours after it shipped the price dropped to 185. I emailed Newegg about it and they credited my CC the difference. Card is sweet and sinlge slot is great as I can actually use my PCIE slots now. :)

seriously, at 1920x1200 that msi 8800gt for $200 AR is far and away the best deal on the planet imho. You should easily be able to achieve 700/1800/1900 on that monster, plastering any stock unit 8800gts and beating 8800gtx at your resolution in almost every situation. It's just not logical to go for any of the last gen heat monsters from either camp right now, even at $300 for a gtx.

edit: oyeve, I'm glad that you posted that about newegg. They've been getting massacred hear lately for their customer service, but my experiences with them have always been outstanding.

Powernick, you're waiting to long, soon, all you know what to do is wait wait and wait some more. You could be enjoying that MSI 8800gt right now, but no, instead your waiting. Bad bad bad ... Waiting get's you nowhere :p

Does newegg have an price guarentee like some stores will have a 30 day guarentee(not with other stores just themselves) in case there prices drop or did you just luck out cuz it dropped on the same day you bought it?

Nope, the email said

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please kindly note, we do not offer any sort of price protection."

But it went on about how Ive been a loyal customer for 8 years and the fact that is was a mere couple of hours they would credit my card. The person was very understanding. They also said that the market right now is in chaos. Newegg rocks most of the time. If you explain to them nicely they respond better. :)

Im thinking about this but I can't get a firm date on when I can hook up a 3870x2 with my 3870.

I hope nvidia releases a powerful new single chip solution.

@lookoutthere, no, get the 512mb msi 8800gt here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814127329

I don't usually put much stock in newegg reviews, but when you look at individual reviews on that card, every single one on the first page bought the card from newegg and every single one gave it a 5. it has 49 reviews in less than two weeks of being out, with 46 fives and 3 fours. That's probably the highest rated video card in newegg history.

well .. they are also well aware you can just refuse shipment and reorder it

But you are quite right ... NewEgg goes the extra distance [especially] for their [good] customers .. and you DO have to ask ... however, once you open it, there is no adjustment without an extraordinary reason.

he is hoping nvidia will respond and there will be a pricewar

BUT nvidia has already responded with their new midrange and AMD has logically lowered prices ... nvidia doesn't need to lower it's newest card as it is faster ... so the 'war' is like ... already over; AMD has the top single card and nvidia just took back the midrange

.. and doesn't it look to you that AMD is copying nvidia in their own way? - i.e. clearing stock ... it almost makes you think something new is coming from AMD also :p
