All games should be 5 hours or less

With two gazillion great games out, it's impossible to play them all.

Wouldn't it be nice if they just put all of their effort into making super duper high quality 5 to 10 hour games? Then we could play them all!

I actually like 10ish, maybe 15ish hour games. So I don't agree with you OP but we're not too far off. I just lose interest these days if it goes much longer than that.

There are some decent 10-15 hour games, but that doesn't mean that all games should be that short.

To be sure, there is a place for short (~5 hour) games - but they should be priced accordingly!

Even when I was unemployed, I didn't have time to play the games I bought. When I sold the Wii, I had 5-6 games that were still shrink wrapped. 🙁

The last 5 COD games were 5 hours or less in SP. MP is a different story. Me, I like long games, especially if they are done well. Not like Fable 3 which was a horror to play and endure.

I feel ripped off if I don't get at least 30 hours out of a $60 game. And the sweet spot is more like 50+ hours from a <$20 game. Best gaming value I've ever bought had to have been Fallout New Vegas for $12 from D2D, I got over 100 hours from it.

No. If a game is done well I don't want it to be over in just 5 hours.

Stop telling yourself that you need to play everything right now. Pile up a few unplayed games and use that as a reason to wait for sales on the games that come out after that.

On the PC I've been able to buy games like Borderlands and Torchlight for $5-15. Unless it's an online multiplayer game there is no reason why you need to pay $60 and get a game at release.

No.

And if they were that short, I would never pay full price for them. The only games I pay full price for are games like Fallout 3, Skyrim, Oblivion, Red Dead Redemption, etc that I know will take me a long time to complete.
