careful with the Elibrium products..they are handled by rebatestatus.com where my rebates, which were listed as valid all these days, suddenly vanished into thin air..a few others complained regarding this too..so watch it !!!

I have to warn you guys. I got the McAfee VScan 6.0 and have installed it on TWELVE Windows XP Systems (to try to duplicate) and on EVERY one, it errors on install (says not compatible with XP), and the updater crashes CONTINUOUSLY. Uninstalled and put on Norton and Voila - It worked like a champ. I have 3 of the McAfee, and even at Free it is a horrible product. Just FYI... Apparently even with a name brand you get what you pay for!

Peter -

Unfortunately I have to agree with you. I have been a McAfee user and staunch supporter for years but since they were bought out the product has just gone steadily down hilll.

I got a copy free after MIR a few weeks ago when v 6 came out and while I could get the AV to install okay on both Win Me and Win XP machines, I could never get the firewall or anything else to work. At least I already have the rebate so it really WAS free!

The thing that REALLY bothered me though was that on another machine with Norton, I was getting definition up dates sometimes 3 or 4 times per week and McAfee was still slogging along with usually just their regular Wednesday update.

Decided THWI and bought Norton System Works 2002 and have been a happy camper ever since. Really like both the AV and Ghost that is in the package. Well worth the $35 it cost me.

<< This is a way old promo. Almost all of the offers are expired. >>

Almost? I don't think any of them are current. Well, I guess the Jam It! rebate may be current, but given that KB Gear is out of business as of 11/1, that's not getting paid.

I'm going to try to get to the bottom of this tomorrow. I already sent email to Amazon asking them if they know anything.
