All devices stuck on IRQ 11

Hi y'all,

I have recently done a dual boot of win2k and win98, and all the devices have IRQ 11 set in win2k. In 98 the irqs are split up perfect with no overlay at all. Win2k reports no problems, but I can't leave it like this. I have tried to manually set the IRQ, but I am locked out, somehow, and I can't uncheck the automatic properties. I'm even logged on as an administrator. Any suggestions would be nice.

As Always,
D

That's normal in win2k... I think it has something call IRQ sharing, so it's normal, don't worry about it....

You most likely are running win2k on a ACPI enabled PC. When you installed Win2k it installed the ACPI hardware abstraction layer. When the ACPI hal is installed Win2k deals with assignment of IRQ's for devices. I currently have five devices sharing IRQ 9 on my system And I haven't had a lick of trouble since I installed Win2K on mystem system in march. You will not be able to change the IRQ assignments manually with the ACPI HAL installed.

The only way you can manually change the IRQ's is if Win2k was installed and the Standard PC Hal was installed. In my opinion if your system does not exhibit any problems, and you can not prove that the assigment of all your devices to one IRQ is degrading perfomance then leave it alone and enjoy what Win2k has to offer over Win95/98.
