I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 8000 system and discovered a major video problem. For some reason the LCD will flash when displaying certain patterns. At first I thought it was just mine but a LOT of people seem to be having the same problem on Dell's forums. Someone on Dell's forums found a very easy way to check if you have the problem. I was hoping the everyone here who has one could check to see if theirs has the problem. All you need to do is go to This Page make it full screen (or move it around) and see if the screen flashes. It may take a few seconds or minutes. Also, people with very different configurations have been having this problem. Let me know what happens. Thanks.

I know there are other people who own an Inspiron here!

As for the region thing, I have no idea.

For laptops usually the only valid test is to compare the same machine, ie. the Inspiron 8000. What do you mean by very different configurations. The 4000 and 5000 are very different machines. Hell, the 5000 is made by a completely different company. I dunno who makes the 4000.

I don't own one but a friend of mine does and I noticed it flickered vertically as well. It displays incorrect pixel colorations or something.

I don't think the problem happens on anything but the 8000. What I meant by different configurations is it happens on very different Inspiron 8000s. People with ATI chips, Nvidia chips, UXGA screens, SXGA+ screens, P3-800 CPUs, P3-1000 CPUs, etc have the problems. In other words it does not seem to matter what is in the 8000 as long as it is an 8000. Only Dell Inspiron 8000 owners need to do the test.

Inspiron 8000 here, 32Meg ATI card, SVGA+ Screen, using the latest bioses as of a month ago, no flickering or flashing. I dont see any flaws with the system with this configuration.
