I bought an ATI 9600 XT recently. It was the original ATI retail box with the "built by ATI" logo. I was surprised when it came with a free Sapphire file folder. Just when I was about to register my product, I noticed the product number included alpha-numeric characters, which according to the ATI website means "powered by ATI". So this is a Sapphire product. I'm disappointed that the product is not what it was advertised. Also, I could've gone for the Sapphire OEM version for much le$$, but I wanted "built by ATI".

So be advised about what you might be getting...

I might've jumped to a conclusion to soon. I found my card number in the "built by ati" database, using a tool on ati's website. But I'm still puzzled by their statement: "Note that BUILT BY ATI products do NOT include alpha-numeric 102 Part Numbers". My card number includes an 'A'.

Owners of "built by ATI 9600 xt", can you please tell me your PNP id? Mine includes 1002 for vendor and subvendor. Also, does your product number include alpha-numeric chars?

Thanks
