Any suggestions appreciated...I can't stand IE and after almost a month of being forced to use it I'm fed up!
Okay, so quick version:
Moved to new city/state for new job, obviously brought compy with, and older ('02) Gateway laptop. Everything worked fine over a wireless connection previously, but once I moved I switched to cable internet (Charter) and a wired connection (previously on a wireless DSL router). Now, the only browser that functions is IE. Firefox, Opera, Netscape, and any of about 4-5 other browsers I have tried all attempt to load but make zero progress, just a blank page and the page load indicator. Odd thing is, when I try to close those browsers, the process remains on the process list in the task manager, and even a hard kill (forced kill of process tree from command line) claims to have success but the process remains.
I'm not so concerned about the process thing (I believe it is a secondary issue to the browser problems) but I really want Firefox back up and running...or Opera, whatever I can get.
To eliminate the obvious, I've done both automatic (Windows uninstall) and manual (delete files/registry entries) uninstalls and then reinstalled to no avail.
Machine:
Gateway Laptop
Pentium M 1.8Ghz
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
Charter 3Mb cable internet
I know someone in here can come up with a solution!
