We have been without power since Thursday with not much hope of the restoration of all things electric in the near future.

Here at work they have a huge generator and the power came on last night, so I have a place of refuge where I can go and surf the net. I have a couple of machines crunching here so at least that is something positive to report.

Who else lives in NW Washington state and has stories to tell?
I imagine some of our TeAm still can't get online, so whenever you do - please check in!

For those who don't know you can find info about our little storm and it's aftermath here:

Sorry, we had an early snowstorm back in November then a 'pineapple express' situation in which it warmed up and rained very hard causing flooding. Then on Dec. 14th we got a major windstorm.

So we had sopping wet ground and lots of nice tall trees, then massive strong winds.

There are a lot of downed lines, including the big transmission lines up in the mountains that can only be reached by helicopter.

Here is a list of links on google

Heard some of those winds were close to 100mph.

Glad you're OK Wiz. Is it safe to assume that your house & everything is ok, other than no electric?

I'm not sure who else from the TeAm lives in that area. Wolfsraider is in the Seattle area if i recall.

Yes, I believe there are a few of us around here.

No damage I have found as of yet.
They said on the news last night they wouldn't be getting the power back on for another week.

Longest power outage ever (for my area).

On the bright side, we have friends with power and they invited us to come stay for a few days! YAY!! :D

oh yeah, I believe the strongest wind was recorded at Mt Rainier - 113mph

I hope things get better soon wiz :(

We only lost power for 3 days. It made me regret moving into an all electric apt though.

I drove all over trying to find propane for the camp stove , finally found some 70 miles out.

Gas stations and food places had lines 4-6 blocks long and most were either out of gas the first few days or were open without electricty lol

Its over now for us power was restored, and I hope you get yours back soon.

WooHoo - our power came on this morning!!

We will spend another night at our friends house, let our house come up to a decent temperature before we come back.

YAY :D

Decent temperature... As in, warm up to a decent temperature? Or cool down?

oh, forgot to mention the outside temp was about 24F when we left.

I'm sure it got cold inside before the power was restored.

Oh wow... That's just beyond imagining down here in Texas. Our AC is freezing up, and it gets hot inside the house.

I hope the move back in and the rest of the holidays go smoothly...

Thanks,

All was pretty much back to normal by the time we got back.
We are all settled in, happy that all our gadgets work again, isn't electricity a wonderful thing?

For some strange reason my cable modem returns from a power outage in standby mode.
I had to call the helpdesk to find out I had to press the button to restore it

Otherwise all is well, I hope everyone else who went through this is back up and running again. ALl my machines are busy chugging out Rosetta & Dimes once again! ;)

Glad to hear you got your power back and everything is good.

I like camping as much as the rest of the world, just not in my home lol
