I talked to 2 American Express CSRsfor their Best Value Guarantee Program. They say they have been inundated with claims. One mentioned that they may be shutting down the amexclaims@awgais.com email address.

I emailed jpg's for 2 claims, both with the same exact receipt attached. I got one check 2 weeks later and never heard a response on the other. When I called they said the image was "corrupted". So I told them to reference the other claim and they were hesitant and asked me to snail mail the receipt.

You might want to call them at 1 800 557 8317 to make sure your claim is being processed because they never contacted me for one of my claims after they had email server problems in the last month.

I just got my latest check for $250.00 yesterday. It took a couple of more days to receive than normal, but then there has been the Christmas rush. I always fax or mail in the documents. I think to rely on that email address is rolling the dice. In any event I hope the email address is the only thing they shut down. I would hate to see the Best Value program go the way of free overnight shipping at Outpost.com.

Their fax machine is so buy, they regularly lose things. No question, you will have to follow-up on your claims, just like rebates (although more reliable). After email, fax or mailing, always call a few days later and verify they have been received. Once all your info is there, they are pretty good about following through with a check in a couple of weeks.

I just received two AMEX Blue checks in the mail from Christmas time. My first ever pricematch and everything went smoothly with the one pricematch, but a 2nd pricematch didn't go perfectly. They were supposed to pricematch 2 of the same item, and send me a check, but apparently they only sent me the money for one of the item. Upon calling them, they said they would review the information and send me out another check for the 2nd one. I faxed both my documents in. Hope things go as smoothly as my first two pricematches have gone in the future :)

I only have one item left in BVG. $100 MORE off that ipaq 3670 dealie. If it goes through then i only wouldve paid $200 for it! But anyway, their email address is a real gamble. I suggest faxing it instead because i've sent it in email 2 weeks ago and they still have no record of my forms. So i had to fax it and they got it in a day.

Fax isn't always the best way to go about it either. The week before Crhistmas, I know they had problems with their fax machine. I faxed my reciept, called back 3 days later to hear them say that their fax machine had been acting up and fax them again at a different number.

Just proves that you should always check with the BVG. Great program :)

Is it hard to get one of these cards? My wife and I have never had any credit problems at all but then again we havent bought a lot of stuff. We paid for a new car in total and never been late on our credit cards. Should I even try to get one?

Yea, I have had times where they lost my fax. Actually it worked out for me as the item I was PMing with just got cheaper, they told me just send the newer ad in and I got the newer PM without making a new claim.

I hope this program stay. Remember to fill in those questionaire that they sent out. I stated on the comment to not to discontinue the BVG program. So make sure to give them postive response.

Also, I've been using the AMEX Blue more lately. Hopefully they'll see that the program they offer attracts the customer to use their card more often! Support AMEX BLUE!

According to the BVG CSR I talked to last week, they are still accepting emails; however, they no longer advertise this option because of the high traffic. To be safe, I would recommend snail mail. It's also a good idea to contact a CSR to check on the status if you haven't heard from them in 2 weeks. Because of the holidays, it looks like it is taking about 3 weeks to process a claim.

Wow, what a HOT FREAKIN' DEAL - NOT! Where's the lock on this? The BVG should not be used to make a hot deal, should be used to protect your purchases against future price drops (and maybe current deals that would entail shady vendors).

I find it funny that you're complaining this isn't a hot deal, yet you're telling people not to use this card to create hot deals? Sure buddy sure, let's all listen to you.

Every couple weeks someone posts about how they are going to stop doing the BVG. Hasn't happened yet, chicken little.

I agree with Bob. Most people don't use BVG to its best advantage...any monkey can create a killer deal for themselves with BVG on a digital camera, for instance, by PM'ing and getting back $250 per claim...and max out their coverage after a couple of deals. Then you have no coverage for the rest of the year when you need it, and zero coverage for when price drops occur. What I do is shop for the best price first, without using BVG to make the deal, in most cases...that way, my PM amounts are each smaller and I can file claims on other items as well, when prices drop. At the end of the year, if I haven't used it all up, I can still create some fantastic deals at Christmas time, when BVG can be combined with the MSN rebate and gift check offers. To each their own, but I prefer doing it as I described. More bang for the buck.

I just received my Amex Card and they have not details other than to call this 800 number to file a claim. Can somone briefly list the process for the fax and/or email option to put in a claim? Ie: what address/number and what info do I need to supply?

That and, it isn't a hot deal turned cold just because you can't e-mail stuff to them. It is still well worth while to snail mail it, what would stink is if they closed it down :(

Looks like my method is still the fastest.

1) Call in first to file a claim and get a claim number.
2) Fax in all the paper works with claim number on every pieces.

Turn around time is approximately 3 weeks instead of 2 it used to be.

Only problem is calling in is like talking to a wall. Their CSR's are very slow and unknowing about anyhting. Takes about 3 times explain and re-explaining to them for them to get it right.

You mean there are Americans that don't get multiple credit-card applications in the mail EVERY day?
Credit cards are a joke to get in this country ... If you have a card, you can get another one without question.

That used to work almost perfectly, but since Christmas, about half my claims have had to be re-faxed, and a couple still required snail-mail after they were re-faxed and 'lost' a second time. Because of this, I expect some claims will take 6 weeks from start to finish. Amex is receiving lots of faxes, and that has become an unreliable method of sending in claims for now, in my opinion. I decided to fax AND mail my last new claim in upon discovering that yet another older faxed claim hadn't been received.
